KASK Zenith X2 Review: Worth the Upgrade?

This past November, KASK announced the release of their new safety helmet - the Zenith X2.

Building on the popularity of the original  Zenith X safety helmet, the X2 aims to surpass its predecessor while maintaining the same features and functionality that contributed to its success.

However, with a $150 price tag, is the Zenith X2 worth the upgrade?

That's precisely the question we aim to answer in this review.

Let's delve into the KASK Zenith X2 and determine whether it truly represents an upgrade from the Zenith X.

What’s in the Box

Inside the box of a new Zenith X2, you'll find the helmet, a carrying bag, a multi-functional face mask, and the manual.

The carrying bag is designed to protect your helmet and sensitive accessories like visors and face shields from scratches.

The inclusion of the multi-functional face mask is a nice touch, as it can serve a number of purposes, from being a headband and wristband to a bandana and hair tie.

Design & Fit

Lightweight, Protective Exterior

The exterior shell of the Zenith X2 is made from high-density polypropylene.

Weighing only 1.04 pounds, it’s lightweight and keeps you comfortable by minimizing pressure on your head and neck while you're wearing it for long periods of time.

Like the previous model, it meets Class E standards for protection against electrical shock up to 20,000 volts.

On the front of the helmet is an accessory slot for badge holders, headlamps, or other accessories.

A cap cover is included to secure the frontal slot and protect you from debris when not in use.

The Zenith X2 also comes with 4 external lamp clips designed to fit KASK headlamps or standard industry headlamps with elastic bands.

These lamp clips can be removed as needed and feature holders for corded earplugs.

Each side of the helmet features visor attachment slots and standard 30mm EURO earmuff attachment slots.

KASK Easy Click adaptors are used to attach visors or face shields.

Comfortable, Functional Interior

Leveraging several innovative technologies, the interior of the Zenith X2 enhances your comfort and safety.

The internal shell is designed with a low-density inner core for optimal top impact protection.

For stronger side impact absorption, the X2’s interior is equipped with a high-density crown protection that’s easy to clean thanks to the click-in system.

This patented attachment system allows you easily remove the inner padding for cleaning or installing a replacement piece.

It significantly extends the life of the padding and the helmet overall.

One of the most popular features of the Zenith X2’s interior is the DRY+ technology, which is engineered to keep your head cool and comfortable even in hot working conditions.

The fabric is also infused with a deodorizing silver ion treatment to keep the helmet smelling fresh and clean, even after extended use.

Adaptive Fit System

No safety helmet is functional without a comfortable, adjustable fit.

The Zenith X2’s Adaptive Fit System maximizes comfort while keeping the fit secure on your head.

Three different components make up the Adaptive Fit System to provide all-day comfort.

First is the double diameter dial.

By turning the dial, you can easily adjust the size and tailor the fit of the helmet to a wide range of head sizes.

The second component of the Adaptive Fit System is the ergonomic side wings that provide a fast and secure fit against the back of your head.

Completing the Zenith X2’s Adaptive Fit System is the Self Adaptive Live Hinge.

This self-adjusting fit technology is designed to move as you move in the helmet, keeping it securely in place, even in the most dynamic, challenging work environments.

For added comfort, the helmet’s chinstrap is made of eco-leather with rear adjustment points

Standards & Classification

Many of the Zenith X2’s features are the same ones that were featured on the X model.

Here’s the biggest difference between the two.

The Zenith X2 meets both ANSI Z89.1 Type I & Type II - Class E standards for all around protection against impact and penetration including front, rear, and sides.

But the Zenith X only meets ANSI Z89.1 Type I standards.

This is a significant advantage for the X2 safety helmet as it offers more protection than the previous model and meets the standard for more work environments thanks to the Type II classification.

Final Verdict

KASK Zenith X2 Safety Helmet

Although the KASK Zenith X2 only features slight modifications from the original model, the additional safety standards and Type II classification are a significant improvement.

The internal structure is upgraded without sacrificing any of the features that made the original model so popular.

Switching from the Zenith X to the Zenith X2 involves almost no learning curve and you’re essentially getting the upgraded version of a product you already know and trust.

Part of that trust is built on the service life of the X2 helmet.

Like its predecessor, the X2 can last up to 10 years before it needs to be replaced, so you’re getting durable protection that’s built to last.

With those elements in mind, we believe the Zenith X2 safety helmet is worth upgrading to.

Experience the next level of safety and comfort with the KASK Zenith X2 helmet, a worthy upgrade that's built to last.
