MSA's Rugged New Altair 4XR Multigas Detector with Bluetooth - 10178557 / 10178558

Portable Gas Detector Delivers Safety At The Speed of Now!

Introducing MSA's newest gas detector to hit the market, the ALTAIR 4XR. The MSA ALTAIR 4XR features Bluetooth connectivity, paving the way for a new world in safety management.

The new MSA ALTAIR 4XR Multigas Detector provides real time event notification using Bluetooth connectivity. This tough and reliable 4-gas monitor with proven MSA XCell Sensors is among the fastest in the world, and when paired with the MSA ALTAIR Connect app, can text alarm notifications to supervisors, team members or other users. Maintenance, operational support and compliance are quickly and reliably enhanced; real-time alarm and event notifications let you deliver an entirely new level of safety.

As the global leader in gas detection, MSA combined the latest advancements in technology with the durability that the ALTAIR family of portable gas detectors has become known for. The result is a new four-gas detector that delivers ease of use, value and ingenuity. MSA introduces the ALTAIR 4XR Portable Multi-gas Detector, the world’s toughest and most reliable four-gas monitor on the market. Backed by a four-year warranty, the ALTAIR 4XR features Bluetooth connectivity, paving the way for a new world in safety management. bluetooth.png

The combination of brains and brawn are rare, but in regards to portable instruments, it is an extraordinary combination. The “brain” within the ALTAIR 4XR Multigas Detector comes from MSA XCell Sensor technology. XCell sensors have a standard life of four years or more, double the industry average! As a breakthrough in chemical and mechanical sensor design, the XCell sensor enables faster response and span calibration times. With less time spent on calibration and bump tests, you save calibration gas, maintenance costs and in turn, save money.

The “brawn” is evident by the instrument’s ruggedness and durability that have been a hallmark of MSA gas leak detectors for decades. The ALTAIR 4XR is no exception. It can be dropped from 25 feet onto concrete and still continue to operate. In fact, it is the first commercial portable gas detector to pass MIL-STD- 810G repeated drop test requirements. In addition, the detector is independently certified to IP68, surviving full immersion in two meters of water for 45 minutes.

As if brains and brawn were not enough, the new ALTAIR 4XR is also a great communicator. The original ALTAIR 4X introduced exclusive MotionAlert, which lets others know if the user has become immobile, and InstantAlert, a manual alarm that alerts others of potentially dangerous situations. The ALTAIR 4XR has these same capabilities, but has taken safety a step further with its real-time connectivity. When paired with ALTAIR Connect, our Android-based application, the ALTAIR 4XR can provide real-time awareness of alarms and events, delivering a new level of safety.

The app uses the functionality of your smartphone (or specialized intrinsically- safe smartphones) to provide real-time notifications from the field, providing additional protection to the lone worker, such as sharing real-time gas exposure and distress alerts with a specified list of people (such as supervisors, team leads, etc.) via SMS text notifications with GPS location, to single or group recipients.

Maintenance, operational support and compliance personnel can also use the ALTAIR Connect app to configure instruments without a PC, view and email event records and calibration certifications, and manage atmospheric samples throughout your facility through its sampling mode.

The new ALTAIR 4XR and the ALTAIR 5X both now offer Bluetooth connectivity standard with every unit. The combination of ruggedness, reliability and real-time event notification delivers safety at the speed of now.
